BJ Elliptical Style Pipe WipersElliptical or oval pipe wipers are made especially for solid master bushings. Like the 10" Arm-style elongated pipe wiper shown on the preceding page, these pipe wipers are tilted for installation through the restricted opening of the bushing. In horizontal, or operating, position, the elongated axis prevents the wiper from pulling up through the master bushing. The holes in the ends provide a means of removing the wiper. BJ Hinged Style Pipe Wipers This special-type wiper eliminates the time-consuming job of pulling the master bushing to install a pipe wiper. It differs from ordinary wipers in that the steel reinforcing ring around the edge is divided and rejoined with chain hinges. The two hinges, being opposite each other, allow the wiper to be folded across the middle. To install, slip the hinged wiper over the pipe, fold it and push it down through the 14" aperture of the master bushing. Once underneath, the wiper snaps back to its flat disc shape. Two 1" holes, in line with the hinges, allow the wiper to be retrieved through the bushing with a hook. A 17" BJ Hinged pipe wiper can pass through a one-piece master bushing as easily as the BJ 17" x 14" Elliptical-style wiper. It has the additional advantage of completely covering the underside of the bushing opening with a 1 1/2" overlap. Pipe Wiper Accessories Pipe Wiper Cutter: This handy tool makes it possible to cut BJ pipe wipers to fit any drill pipe size from 3 1/2" through 6 5/8". Thus, orders can be filled for any size immediately, even with a limited supply of wipers. Operating instructions are cast into the plate of the cutter. To order, specify Code CUTOUT (Weight, 18.8 lbs.).
