BJ Heliwipe/Tandem Pipe Wipers
Drilling contractors and operators both benefit from the use of BJ pipe wipers. Dry pipe is easier and safer to handle, helps keep the derrick floor clean, racks faster and does not corrode while out of the hole. Mud dilution is eliminated because no pipe wash water is required - a saving both in mud material and in water.
There is a BJ pipe wiper for every kind of rig and drilling operation: the convenient, side-installed Heli-wipe; the rugged, double-action Tandem, and four Flat-type wipers - Standard, Elliptical, Hinged and Window style. All BJ wipers have fully flexible webs that permit oversize tool joints, protectors and stabilizers to be pulled through safely. Byron Jackson uses only the highest-quality rubber, assuring extra-long service life.
Note: If pipe wipers are to be used with oil-base-type drilling muds, specify "Oil-Resistant" when ordering. Otherwise, pipe wipers of standard BJ-formulated rubber will be supplied.
BJ Heliwipe Pipe Wipers
Most conventional pipe wipers must be installed over the end of the drill pipe, using sheer "muscle power" or a special guide cone. The BJ Heliwipe can be quickly and easily installed around the drill pipe from the side, without having to disturb either pipe or elevator.
Heliwipe is the first side-opening pipe wiper to offer the advantages of a symmetrical, one-piece design with
multiple wiping action. It provides more than two full turns of continuous wiping surface around the full circumference of the pipe. Unlike other split-type wipers, there are no gags in the inner wiping edge to leave unwiped streaks on the pipe.
A helically wound inner reinforcing ring of heat-treated steel resists expansion, preventing the wiper from becoming loose on the pipe and from distortion even after long, hard wear. The downward pitch of the helical wiping surface allows efficient mud drainage during use; permits fast cleaning with sluicing water.

BJ Tandem Pipe Wipers
Tandem pipe wipers are molded as a single unit to provide a flexible, double wiping action on drill pipe strings where oversize tool joints and protectors are used. Despite their rugged construction, they are light and easy to install. Top and bottom wiping elements are spaced far enough apart to prevent mud caking, yet the complete unit is thin enough not to interfere with operation of the master bushing. The flexible webs allow large-diameter tools to be pulled through and ensure trouble-free wiping action. Three large drainage slots permit the mud wiped by the top element to run out freely.
